From the outside, satsearch reads as supplier funded: the site sells listings, lead generation and reach to suppliers, while engineers arrive through search. Search finds the side that does not pay. The side that does pay is a finite, nameable set of companies, and this map is that set in the United States: the supplier segments, who signs inside each one, and roughly how many organizations sit there. It describes the market rather than your business, and there is nothing to buy at the end of it.
Engineering services, mission software and consultancies
The largest supplier pool on this page and the one least well served by a parts catalog, because the offer is people and hours rather than a product with a datasheet. These firms live on being shortlisted, which makes visibility the whole product for them.
Who signs: managing director or founder, head of growth, business development lead, practice or capability lead.

Bus builders, avionics, payload and component makers. The segment with the clearest fit for a searchable catalog and the shortest distance between a listing and a request for quotation, because the buyer is looking for a part number and a lead time.

Long qualification cycles and high switching costs, which cuts both ways: hard to displace an incumbent, and unusually sticky once specified. Being in front of the engineer at the design stage rather than the procurement stage is the whole game in this segment.

Test, assembly, integration and environmental facilities
Capacity businesses. They sell time in a chamber or on a shaker table, so an empty week is revenue that cannot be recovered, and a channel that fills the schedule is worth more to them than to anyone else on this page.

Tiny by count and outsized in gravity. Everybody in the supplier base wants to be on the manifest, so a relationship here pulls attention from the segments above it. Small enough to be worked entirely by name.

Where the openings are

Only the paying side of a marketplace can be enumerated. The engineers who search cannot be listed anywhere, and they do not need to be, because search already reaches them. Suppliers can be listed. In the United States alone the bands above add up to 2,540 organizations at the low end and 4,010 at the high end, and that number does not move much year to year, which makes it a list rather than a market to guess at.

The buyer inside a supplier is commercial, not technical. The engineer is the user of a marketplace; the person who signs for a listing carries a sales or marketing number. Growth that arrives through the product tends to keep meeting the first of those two people, and in most supplier organizations the second one has never come across the platform at all.

Distance is the opportunity, not the obstacle. The largest supplier base sits in a country where a marketplace headquartered in Europe is least likely to be known by default, which is also why the map is scoped to the United States. That is an awareness problem with a fixed and knowable audience, which is the easiest kind to fix mechanically and the hardest to fix by being good.

This is a distribution question, not a credibility one. Running a neutral marketplace is a discipline of its own. The machinery that puts a case in front of several thousand named commercial leads inside supplier organizations on a schedule, and tracks what comes back, is a separate build, and most firms in this category never make it. That is the part we build, and we hand it over when it works.
Built from public federal registry data covering US organizations registered to do business with federal agencies, and US employers that file a benefit plan, current to the 2024 filing year. Counts are banded deliberately. Space suppliers sit under broader aerospace and electronics codes, sector codes are self-reported, and one organization can appear under more than one code, so these bands describe the layer that is visible in public data rather than the whole supplier base.
